Intake Staff

Location: Sioux Center, IA

Department: Outreach

Reports to: Lyon/Sioux Outreach Coordinator

Primary Work Location: Sioux Center with travel to other counties

Eligible for Benefits: Yes

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Hours are subject to change based on financial and program requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma from a 2 year secretarial or office assistant program preferred or 3 years related experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Empathy for lower income families.
  • Good written and oral skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Experience in working with the public preferred.
  • Self-starter.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with community resources.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent listening skills and problem solving skills.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answer telephone calls and distributes messages.
  • Greet public in a businesslike manner.
  • Provide clerical support through filing, correspondence, and other assigned tasks.
  • Assist with holiday projects.
  • Keep shelves stocked and food rotated in food pantry.
  • Enter information in to computer accurately.
  • Complete reports, applications, time/expense sheets, and other requests in a neat, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Learn and follow agency policies and procedures.
  • Keep office and work area neat and clean, including dusting, vacuuming, etc.
  • Complete all applications for Mid-Sioux services timely and completely.
  • Attend WIC clinics in respective counties and talk to clients about Mid-Sioux services.
  • Accurately review and verify client income.
  • Cover other outreach offices as assigned.
  • Attend collaboration meetings with other providers within your counties of service.
  • Establish positive partnerships with area resources providers.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and agency events.
  • Assist clients with crisis situations, making referrals as necessary and completing follow through until situation is resolved.
  • Must be able to complete duties with reasonable accommodation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Reliable transportation, valid Iowa driver’s license and insurance.
  • Must agree to a Criminal and Child Abuse background check upon employment and every 2 years thereafter.
  • Must agree to a Motor Vehicle Record check upon employment and every year thereafter.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Maintain professional behavior, attitude, and job skills.
  • Be able to work independently, set priorities, and follow directions.
  • Be courteous to staff and clients.
  • Complete the Mandatory Reporter training within 6 months of hire and every 5 years after.
