Primary Work Location: Le Mars Outreach Office
Pay Status: Hourly
Eligible for Benefits: Yes
Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Hours are subject to change based on financial and program requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service Field or Family Development Certification and 3 years of experience preferred.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for and operate computer software systems.
- Responsible for office management.
- Ability to develop positive and trusting relationships with targeted families.
- Greet public in a business-like manner.
- Actively recruit and enroll eligible families to meet and maintain caseload requirements.
- Possess excellent listening skills and problem-solving skills.
- Administer and document required assessments with enrolled families within appropriate time frames.
- Assist target families in developing family plans.
- Plan action steps and use strategies needed to achieve goals in appropriate time frames.
- Document regular contact and activities with enrolled families within appropriate timeframes through program exit.
- Take client applications for agency programs, verify income, and notify client and vendors of eligibility.
- Attend collaborative meetings with community partners.
- Systematically refer families to resources appropriate for family needs and levels of development.
- Ensure that all client data remains confidential.
- Establish and maintain positive partnerships with area resource providers.
- Assist with ROMA/CSBG responsibilities including reporting of activities.
- Prepare and submit reports and time and expense sheets in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
- Communicate agency philosophy and goals accurately to others.
- Assist in local fundraising efforts and public appearances.
- Creates and maintains positive image through office and personal appearance.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, agency events.
- Ability to complete duties with reasonable accommodation.
- Complete and report on special projects.
- Assist clients with crisis situations, making referrals as necessary and completing follow through until situation is resolved.
- Present to community organizations/churches about Mid-Sioux programs throughout the year.
- Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Must be willing and able to complete Family Development Certification Training.
- Must complete Mandatory Reporter training within 6 months of hire and renew every three years.

- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to work with community resources.
- Reliable personal transportation, valid Iowa driver’s license and insurance.
- Complete 10 hours of professional development annually.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and travel as appropriate.
- Keep office areas clean and neat.
- Keep equipment in good working condition.
- Able to complete duties as assigned with reasonable accommodations.
- Maintain confidentiality on all agency services at all times.
- Must submit to Criminal History, Child Abuse and Motor Vehicle Record checks according to company policy.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds often, lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, lift over 30 pounds rarely.
- Maintain professional behavior and attitude.
- Respond positively to change.
